Global Cooperation

Cultivating Excellent Students in an International Environment
Hoseo University endeavors to produce outstanding students who have a good command of English, are intelligent and well informed, and have a cosmopolitan outlook. To realize this goal, the University has established strong relationships with 69 universities in 19 countries and cultivates talented students and staff through international exchanges, the mutual recognition of academic credits, the exchange of academic information and material, and engagement in joint research projects.

Hoseo University,Light and Salt in the World

Founded in the spirit of Christianity in 1978, Hoseo University has contributed to the world through evangelization. Bimonthly attendance at chapel is required of all freshmen and sophomores. Introduction to Christianity is a required course for all students.
The Pastoral Care Center provides students with counselling regarding faith and daily concerns. The Center helps students to worship God, to obey their parents, to serve their neighbors, and to overcome egoism by offering instructive sermons from the President and pastors.
At present, there are six Christian student groups and 35 Bible study groups working actively. In addition, there are many missionary programs, such as the Training of the Association of Christian Circles, the Jesus Culture Festival, and a Gospel Song Contest. There are many other activities for the training and dispatching of missionaries, evangelizing, serving people in rural areas, helping the poor, and meeting the other needs of the region.

Global Education

Enhancement of Foreign Language Ability

In order to enhance students’ foreign language proficiency, especially English language, Hoseo offers a wide range of programs. There are classes taught by English native speakers and also students can take advantage of utilizing foreign ?language study facilities such as the English Writing Center, English Clinic, and up-to-date Video Library. The Foreign Language Education Center organizes language training programs conducted in foreign countries during summer and winter sessions.

Worldwide Sisterhood Ties

Hoseo has established a worldwide sisterhood network with about 30 foreign universities with which Hoseo is actively involved through the exchange of faculty and student programs, research cooperation, and collaborative academic activities.

Community-Oriented Education

Cooperative Research among Industries, Businesses, and the University
Hoseo University promotes cooperative research between industries, business, and the university. The TBI(Technological Business Incubator) was established in 1995 for the first time in Korea by the joint investment between university and local government. Other state-of the art technology centers such as RRC(Regional Research Center) and RCIST(Research Center for Industrial Safety Technology) are actively working on their research.

Techno Park
The Korean government has decided to make, by the year 2002, Asan-Chonan area as the site to develop a multi-donated Techno-Park, a free industrial complex modelled after the Silicon Valley of the U.S.A., Hoseo University has donated sites and buildings for this project which will be used for the Venture Complexes and the telecommunication Center.

Special Admission
In an effort to contribute to the development of local communities, Hoseo University offers special admission to those who are from rural areas, fishing villages, and looking for jobs in the Chonan &Asan after graduation.

Computer Education
Hoseo University provides its members with a number of computer training programs on the internet, e-mail, and multi-media. To help students to have a better command of computers, it offers every office and classroom state-of the art equipment.

On-Line
ClassesMany professors have their classes conducted on-line by which they can work in an interactive manner. It frees both students and professors from the limits of space and time.

Computerized Administration
All the administration in Hoseo University is totally computerized. All staff members can do their administrative word with precision and convenience.

Christian Education
Since Hoseo University was established in the spirit of Christianity, it is required for students to attend chapel class up to junior year. It also supports students’ activities carried out in the spirit of Christianity.

Close Relationship Between Faculty Students
Hoseo holds a distinctive membership Training at the beginning of each semester with the participation of all the faculty members and students. It helps professors to understand ‘new’ generation. Meanwhile it also encourages professors to consult students at least once in a semester under the special systems called ‘Responsible Advisor System’ through which students can solve their problems at ease.
